Breaking Bad Season 2 Episode 10: Over
There's another grayscale flashforwards at the beginning of this one. The hazmat workers are seen, first only in the pool's reflection, and then through a broken windshield, to heighten the sense of detachment. This is also the first flash-forwards to show the bodies, proving people have died here
Walt is aimless and has no idea what to do with his remission notice
Jesse said he thought Walt died, and Walt says "no such luck" It's sort of sarcasm directed as Jesse, but it's also Walt being genuine about his feelings
Walt advises caution, and he still thinks he can get out at this point
Walt gives Flynn tequila at his post-cancer celebration. When Flynn responds to Tequila like a 16 year old would, Hank is joking around with him, and Walt refills his cup. Hank acting like the responsible adult and interceding just makes Walt angrier, because he feels like he's being usurped as Flynn's father, and he keeps pushing Flynn to drink, to reclaim that power on some level. Even when Flynn pukes, he doesn't do anything
Jesse is trying to be domestic for Jane.
Even when Walt tries to apologize, he's still distancing himself from it. In his message to Skyler he says "Yesterday, that wasn't me"
Skyler, with Walt missing emotionally, is turning to Ted.
While shopping at the hardware store, Walt, who has otherwise been successfully acting normal, nearly pays with a bill someone bled on. He can't keep his deeds separate from the rest of his life, and this reiterates that
All of Jesse's teen superheroes are based on him, on some level. Jesse wants to be something more, and to be special. a
Jane doesn't tell her dad about Jesse. She puts that, over her relationship with him, with no warning. Later, she acts like it's not a concern, which Jesse reads as an insult, because he's desperate for an actual relationship, and now he feels like Jane is ashamed of him.
Walt is obsessed with the idea that there's mold "eating away at the foundations" of his house, which is so obvious I almost don;t feel like pointing out the symbolism.
Another on the "unsubtle symbolism" point, Walt cleaning the rot is keeping him away from family meals, and obviously bothering both Flynn and SKyler. Walt also can't be bothered to go to work when there;s rot to deal with
Jane gives Jesse an "apology girl" drawing. going off previous symbolism, she wants to be the sort of person who can apologize to Jesse, but she can't quite do that.
Walt goes back to the hardware store, sees a teenager buying meth cooking supplies, and gives him tips. Walt takes cooking personally, and he doesn't want to see it done wrong.
After, he warns the teenager and his much older, more imposing friend to "stay out of his territory", and works. He's back to exercizing fear and power.
